Our cancer support centres are run by a team of dedicated staff and volunteers, all of whom have backgrounds in counselling and/or health care.
We offer a free, confidential listening and counselling service to anyone whose life has been affected by cancer, whether patient, relative, carer or friend.
Appointments can be made to see a qualified counsellor at any time suitable for the client.
People in crises or new situations often feel the need to meet with others in a similar situation. CISS will organise group meetings as required, and have self-help groups meeting at the centres regularly weekly or monthly.
Among those using the facilities are patients with their family members and lymphoedema patients, both groups meeting monthly at Swansea.
We are also running Bereavement Support Groups in our Neath Centre. Please phone or email for further details
Factual, up-to-date information can make an enormous difference to anyone affected by cancer, including family and friends.
Such valuable advice can help to dispel some of the fears and myths about the disease, and is freely available from CISS.
Our centres offer a vast range of up-to-date printed information on all types of cancer and treatments. This includes work published by Cancerbacup, Macmillan, Cancer Research UK, Tenovus and Royal Marsden, to name but a few. Internet access to world-wide information is also freely available.
